This is me on "I Need Money" off of Pat Ramsey & the Blues Disciples---"Live at the Big Bend Blues Bash"
Pat made me make 2 passes when I wasn't expecting it...but it made it on the CD anyway.

It is the first cut on the "Myspace" link in my sig..

By the way...Pat Ramsey is having serious health issues right now and can use your support..(check my myspace blog)

Pat played all of the harmonica on Johnny Winter's "White, Hot & Blue" album in the 70's

Check out Johnny's version of "Walkin' By Myself" (that's Pat on Harp)

    Thanks--
It was recorded via DI from an Ampeg--
The sound company was recording Tommy Castro that night , and used us as a sound check.
Pat liked it and released it with no dubs or anything.

That would be my only gripe, I thought it was long winded for a blues bass solo. The dynamic gets brought down, and for a fun boogie woogie song like that you don't want to have that go on too long. But that wasn't your fault obviously, what was your fault: THAT WAS A KICK ASS SOLO. :bassist: Seriously, some great chops, sir.

I'm listening to some of your other stuff, great playing on all your stuff. It's flashy but it fits the blues vibe, it's nice hearing bass playing like this in a blues combo, it creates some interest in the I-IV-V structure.

    Great playing/tone.

  8. "No Cuttn Loose" takes the cake, loving the bass lines extremely tight.

Here's an example of layin' it down simple with fancy trasitions..
Pat never wanted his side-men to (dumb-down their playing) to apease the "Blues Nazis".
The Blues has to grow like anything els or die..
It's the first song on Pat's myspace. http://www.myspace.com/patramseythebluesdisciples

    +1000!

The solo was awesome, and the bass line in the song was awesome throughout. I know some bass players who will just walk a I-IV-V progression all the way through, but all those octaves and widdly-bits threw me for a loop.

Thanks-I thought it was a little over-the-top for blues..
The rest of the CD is pretty much "In-the-pocket" playing.
    Especially on the slow stuff...

  14. I'd like to play like that, what kind of technique is that that makes it sound so fast....just speed?

  15. I just noticed this thread and I'm terribly sorry to hear about this.

The music is great...your playing and Pat's playing and singing. It has a great Kim Wilson kind of vibe.

It's pretty much knowing major scale arpeggios and pentatonic blues scale.
Most of that solo is from years of stuff I practiced over and over...35 years worth..
Learning to connect up-and-down the neck with patterns.
(and stealing every lick I can from good players)
