I did some recording yesterday and it seemed like I was clipping the mixer from the direct out on my amp. Even when we adjusted the levels it was still a bit of a problem. I realized that it was probably my technique. I might be just a tad too dynamic in my two finger picking. When I tried to simply back off on my picking it messed with my timing something fierce. I found I was dragging the beat big time. What would some exercises be to develop more even volume in my lines? Currently I am recording myself with a tape deck and checking for any discrepancies, as well as doing a LOT of eighth note exercises. Would working with some sort of VU meter help? I didn't record with a compressor because we didn't have one on hand. Glenn PS you're a very, very good man for doing this.
