1001 rb2 with musicman, hiss when I boost the treble of the musicman (more than flat)

It is a noisy amp and a noisy bass?

Hiss lives in treble land. Most ANY amp will get a little hisssy when you add high frequencies from your eq, bass or amp. You're still convinced something "bad" happened because of the speaker cable thing, am I right?

I don't have experience with a musicman, but I have the GK 1001RB-II.

I play a passive p-bass with the tone-control full open.
And I play with a lot of treble turned open. A lot.
On the GK 1001RB I have the presence knob dimed... and on an outboard equalizer in the effects loop I have the treble at 12kHz at +12dB.
I love that trebly sparkle sparkle sound when doing some technical stuff in the high register.

But noise... hiss or pfff... I have no noise at all when I do this.
No hissing or humming whatsoever. Nada, nienté, rien,...
(I must mention that I have a gate control on my TLA 5051, but even when the gat is off no noise.)

I set up trebly sound with previous amps that I've owned, never had a big problem with noise.
The GK is the unnoisiest (is that a word?) amp I have owned to get that sound I want.

So, FWIW and IME, the GK 1001RB-II is not a noisy amp at all.
