    Not comparable IMO. Kind of like the difference between overdrive and fuzz - the same sort of thing but far enough apart that one can't replace the other.

    I'm not a huge fan of wahed bass, but it can sound very good with distortion in heavy situations. Rex from Pantera used a wah on their last album, but Timmy C is definitely the bass wah king, awesome stuff on Battle of LA and Audioslave.

    Benjamin Strange from Dead Hand System is somewhat of a bad-ass, even if he does say so himself.

    According to rumor, he's using a Teese RMC3 wah.

    Dunno the bassists, but a lot of classic 70's porn music has fantastic wahing bass lines. track down the album Pornosonic. It's fab.
