I recently started to investigate the market for a Status Graphite 5 string bass. I found this one on eBay. Does anyone know it - Status Graphite Energy Artist 5st bass? Also: 1) The seller said it's an Active bass, but in the pics I see a toggle switch - maybe there's a chance it's passive as well? 2) Do you think the price is reasonable - I just have no idea what this bass would cost on a Used Bass market nowadays. Hi Risor, The Energy bass has a bolt on wood neck. These usually sell for less than the graphite neck status basses. My opinion is that this price is a bit high. I haven’t played an Energy bass. I am sure it is a great instrument and will have most of the Status tone. I don’t know what the toggle switch does. There is tech info on the status graphite site about their preamps. Cheers Neil
FWIW I passed on a 4-string version of that bass in a less attractive finish for $700 about a year ago...no graphite there...so no, I would not pay anywhere near the asking price. But that's me.
I had status energy 5 strings, pretty similar like that on ebay sale. Playability, construction are top notch. One of best b string ever, too. These basses goes for insanely low prices for what they are worth.
That particular is more costy than usual but even double that price isnt too much for what you're getting, quality wise.
That's true. I had an Energy fivestring myself, it was my workhorse bass from 1994 until 2005. Stunning instrument, extremely well made. All I'm saying is, the usual price for a pre-owned Status Energy is significantly lower.
