I've long had an almost perverse fascination with Linc Luthier basses ...and yet they rarely get talked about here on TB. A quick search suggests that the last time "Linc Luthier" was in the subject line of a thread (not including the Classifieds) was 2018, and there have been only three non-Classified threads about them since 2012. And if I search for "Linc Luthier" in the thread bodies, half of the instances are from me! (Hey, I did say "an almost perverse fascination"...) Anyone still playing one of these instruments? Any insights, observations, opinions on them? I feel like I'm one RCH away from ordering one, just out of curiousity...but I'd hate to find out after the fact that there's a reason they're not particularly popular. Whaddya got? Thanks.
I haven’t played one of those since the mid 90s, but they were pretty cool. That “V” neck profile was really unique
What would the percentage have to be for you to have a complete perverse fascination with them? Does Macca still have his?
Never heard of them until now. Interesting looking instruments, I like the look. Kind of a BC Rich vibe going on there. Looks a lot like a reversed Mockingbird actually. Would be curious about pricing.
The body shape and construction is cool and unique, and I like the wood choices. I had an Ovation acoustic guitar that had a V neck profile, and for me it was a real hindrance to my playing.
Never really got into the style, but they appear to be very well made. The horizontal neck construction is innovative - reminds me of the B-type neck approach over at LowEnd Basses.
They have a very 90’s website … I would think that if they were still in the game they would update the presentation
Oh so very 90s. I expected music to start playing (that you can’t turn off). It’s not on GeoCities, but I bet the previous version was.
Pickups mounted directly to the body, all semi acoustic, all passive. Piezo with blend option. Interesting!
The site is very quaint. I hope they are still going, prices aren't stupid for such a unique instrument and i really like their approach to design.
