i am going to build a cab.
not decided on what yet. if i am going to get a 15
i am going to get it from avatar.
but i played on a eden 2x10 cab sounded awsome.
isn't that bottom ported you know the vent?
what is the differnce in sound between the round ports and the vents?
  2. No.

The tone changes only when the port is too small (makes noise), or when the tuning frequency is changed by changing the port diameter and/or length.

Shape and location does not affect the tone. The port only makes the box resonant, same as blowing across the top of an empty beer bottle.
  3. Familiarize yourself with the subject of ported cabinets first before you buy stuff. It will probably end up sounding bad, only because you didn't know what you were doing.

Get a book, do a search, whatever :)

Vance Dickason's "Loudspeaker design cookbook" is a welth of info on this.
