Does Kay still exist?

    I was wondering if Kay still made basses. I'm sort of curious because I'm playing one my teacher has on loan from a local college. Did Kay eventually become Englehardt?

    Actually, I think it's a little more accurate to say that the Engelhardt folks bought out the tools and forms and such from the defunct Kay operation.

    There's a website or two outlining the history of Kay basses. I'm just too damn lazy to look 'em up right now, but you can get there (man, you can get everywhere) from Bob Gollihur's site.
