And i quote: "Professionally hand crafted Bass by recognized bay area guitar builder Dan Ransom. His clients include, Joe Satriani, Keanu Reeves, Chris Isaak, amongst many others." Is Keanu Reeves a musician of some sort? And is building basses for him something to brag about? Check this auction out: http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1480788634
Not sure what the name of the band was/is, but I do know that he plays bass. But, this is the wrong forum.
Oops, wrong band. Keanu plays bass in Dogstar http://www.dogstaronline.com/index_ie.html P is/was Johnny Depp's band.
they should call it dorkstar - have you heard them? "Step Away from the Bass. You Have 10 Seconds to Comply!"
Johnny Depp plays guitar in P. It's actually his band! I'd like to say that Keanu should stick to acting, but he can't do that real well either!
I applaud anyone who picks up the bass, however, I must admit, he's not very good. At least he can play their songs, so I guess that's the important thing.
Dogstar actually had a single on the radio a year or two back. They played on Leno, too. However, much of the attention they got was probably related to Keanu's involvement with the band.
Kevin Bacon has a band too. The Bacon Brothers. What's with actors and actresses that think that just because they can act, that they can and should be musicians as well -- Jennifer Lopez, Bruce Willis, Dan Aykroyd, Eddie Murphy, Jennifer Love Huge-t*ts? Do they think that the audience just can't get enough of them? What about musicians that think that just because they can carry a tune or play an instrument, that they'd be good actors? Stick to what ya do and let others do what they do!
But the cool thing about this is, (bear with me here), he must really feel a desire or drive to play music. I mean, the guy makes more money from a single movie than some of us will see in our lifetimes. Regardless of what I think of his talent, nobody is forcing the movie studios to pay him this much, so somebody feels that he is worth the bucks. Credit where it's due... I admire the cojones it takes for someone who is so recognizable to leap into a situation where so much of his soul is bared. With a movie, criticism or failure can be attributed to so many variables... with his music, it truly comes down to talent. I've heard much worse music, and so have you -robert
Dann Glenn is making the leap from Bass player to movie actor... or something like that... pretty cool
don't forget about Russell Crowe. His band toured for a "mere pittance" of 10k per show. Give me a break.
I don't know about Reeves as a bassist, but he certainly can afford Dan Ransom's pricey basses, ($5k neighborhood). Gary Brown of Pray for Rain and Flora Purim uses them - See www.brawer.com if interested.
Thank ya, warwick! I saw that sham band of his once. Actor posing as musician. Can you say, "Bruce Willis?" I can say, "poser." Makes me think of someone who would buy one of those brand new, $3k, pre-beatup, www.guitargalleria.com "Relic" series jobs Fender Custom Shops makes so they could make people think they were authentic musicians who just happened to be actors, too
Yes.....Dogstar is the band/project he is in.I saw them on one of the late night shows a year or so ago. While he does play better than ME ,I still was`nt particularly impressed with him or the band. Just one man`s opinion though. LOL You know he`s got to have some bad a$$ gear though!
