im dying to know!
I wouldnt mind knowing, too. I plan on getting one to relic and mod over the summer.
I own it. It's got decent mwah, but it has a polyurethane-coated maple fingerboard, so it's not quite as "woody" sounding as something with a bare rosewood or ebony board. It does sound very good though, and sits very well in the mix.
Good. Thanks for that.
I wish it was unlined!
I wish it were ebony!
ebony would be rather expensive... but i do wish it was unlined!!! i'd buy it in a heartbeat if it was unlined! but thanks so much for the info. im considering to buy it but i might also want a 6 string Douglas bass off of rondomusic
My friend has a rosewood(naked) fingerboard PJ and it does have plenty of mwah. If you're doubtful just go rosewood.
I have the rosewood board version and it has plenty of mwah. It's for sale too - click the link in my sig.
honestly I would go for the P/J like mine
the regular SX P bass pickup makes a decent P Bass sound - nice fat and deep
and it makes a unique fretless sound like Pino Palladino
if I want that I usually solo the neck pickup
BUT I have found I get much more mwah and presence with the bridge soloed
and it makes a very nice Jaco-esque glasslike mwah
I hardly ever "mix" the two pickups together because for some reason atleast to me
the output gets minimilized and the attack is lost.
however the fact that I can get these two very fundamentally different fretless sounds in one bass that cost me 115 bucks is a nice bonus
That must be a run of the line PJ Fretless, because theyre arent any on the site.
I plan on getting the maple necked fretless to refinish, relic, and MoJo to hell over Summer.
The fretless PJ with rosewood fingerboard is still available:
Ugh.. do they have a maple board one?
hmm i wonder if i could sand the lines of and refinish? that seems like a good project for my boredom adn i can get what i want anyone ever tried this?
no but when they get the Geddy type fretless neck with black block inlays I may be doing a switcheroo
Now THAT sounds awesome.
they look like that except 4 string
I would have jumped on one awhile ago
but the last batch had some weird green tint on them
A matching Geddy-ized Fretless P bass to go with my Geddy.
I am starting to not like you Yello!
Mwah is also dependent on setup.
Mine has mwah. Same neck on a Turser '51P
