ok, i have a swr workingman 15. i am wondering if i can buy an extension cab that is 8ohms and switch that up as my main speaker(meaning it would recieve the 160 watts) and have the original 15 recieve the 40 additional watts. would this work, or am i wasting my time? thanks, and later, ryan
oh, i want one cab to be super clear, tight, punchy bass, and one to be low and and a bit growly. so does anyone have suggestions in the swr family of cabs, thanks again

By the way, I can't think of a way to get the power going where you want it. If the internal speaker is 8-ohm, and the external speaker is 8-ohm, you're gonna get the same power to both. You could use a 4-ohm extension cabinet, and that would put more power to the extension, but you'd be running your rig at 2.67 ohms, which would be ill-advised.

well, the main speaker is getting 160 watts and the extension speaker hookup, where nothing is currently hooked up, says it recieves 40 watts.....so...i don't know

what are your outputs; is it something like this?

    bridge:8ohm,
    4ohm,
    4ohm? (eg:carvin)

or something else? That info would definitely help.

  6. Like Munji said, you can't control how many watts go to each cab. If you connect 2 8 ohms cabs, each is gonna get half the 4-ohms-rated output power of the amp. No matter watt!

Some amps (dunno for yours) connect the extra speaker in series instead of parallel to the internal speaker, meaning your total power DROPS.
