I tried to snipe it on ebay... But another sniper sniped better.

The only thing I don't like about that bass is the wood used for the body. Ask you're self, "Why is it trans blue burst & not totally trans blue?" It's an alder body w/ash front & back. The edges are solid blue to hide it. Fender did that in some guitars & basses to save some money. If you have an older Fender FrontLine magazine, you'll see. I think the bass still looks nice & if I saw it on eBay, I probably would of put a bid on it.

The newer ones w/the "chrome" Fender decal on the headstock are either "Ash body or alder body, depending on the finish".

  4. Looks Nice Gabu to bad you missed it. I scored my warwick 6 on ebay, and I am a happy man !!!

That's identical to mine, Gabu. Like Nino said, the blueburst is kind of funky. It's not an issue for me. I've only seen a couple around, wasn't a very common color (or maybe people are hiding them;)).

This is the bass I put the J-Retro with passive tone control in. It's a killer, though it sounded great before.

Ah... Good deal on the Warwick man. :) My "items I am watching" list on ebay is shrinking... but not done yet... There are a few more Jazz Deluxes that are coming up soon. :D

Aha! So it was you that sniped me!! ;) :D That color is really nice looking. When I showed that to my wifey, she was like, "Buy it, buy it!" hehehe

I liked it enough that when it comes around again... Even though I will already have a Jazz by that time... I will probably get it too. :)

So, if I see a MIA without the chrome logo, would it use a solid piece of Ash or Alder?

In the late 90's Fender did some burst color's that had alder bodies w/ash front & back. I've seen Crimsonburst, blueburst, blondeburst (trans-whiteburst) & a few other color's that I can't remember now. Some were on American Standard's but most were on the USA Plus & USA Deluxe. It dosen't mean it's a bad bass. Just that the whole body wasen't transparent because then you could see the top & back are vaneers.

If you see the chrome logo, it'll have a solid ash or alder body. If it dosen't have the chrome logo, it has the ash top & back on alder.

I am not sure about the whole wood thing, but that is one nice looking bass. I have the MIM Deluxe 5, and like it pretty well. Good luck on the future bidding. Chances are you will find a very good deal.

I have the funnyburst one and a Shoreline Gold JD5 from the same year (1997)... they both sound great.

It's the same one I was looking at in a store... but it's $425, incudes a gigbag and no shipping.

I miss that blue... but this one is cool too! :) I actually was originally targeting a MIM but was finding more what I wanted in the MIAs. So this is exactly what I started out looking for.

Sniping is really half the fun of Ebay. The joy of having 2 windows opened, one being refreshed, the other with the bid confirmation button ready, the sweaty palms... Better luck next time! Great taste in basses!
