  1. Ernie Ball Bass carved

This is a very strange bird! I’m both intrigued and put off at the same time, but more so sad that this poor Sabre got carved up! I’m not even entirely sure it belongs to a Sabre

This just *might* pass muster for a steampunk band.

At some point, even on Talkbass, you just have to shake your head. Why would anyone do such a thing?

He's got one thing right though, it does look like something Les Claypool would play :smug:

  7. Nobody should Carl Thompson a Sabre like that, the chrome plates and the unchanged headstock make it bizarre looking

Price is a bit steep, considering the alterations. But, I’ll provide devils advocate and say I’m ok with the originality. I’d almost say I’d be proud to own it. I like modern art, and I think this is a good representation.

Ahh, a fine bass in a world where elves and gnomes and other woodland creatures prance and frolic in revelry.

We're offended now because now a saber feels like a classic instrument, but it wasn't exactly a popular choice in it's day. I don't like it, but it's definitely better done than many hack jobs I've seen.

Really, it’s still better than Geddy’s P bass. Shame about the frets.

  19. A nice lesson on how to customize your bass so that 95% of the population won't want to buy it.

I hope he got his money's worth out of it.

  20. Good lord, I hope I never encounter a steampunk band!
