Which strings will fit a 35 scale headless bass? I have the hipshot headless system on a couple of basses and bought some rotos that were about half inch short. Anyone with experience care to chime in? I see labella, ghs and ken smith make 5 string long scale sets but will they be long enough?

    Bump, no suggestions or experience?

  3. I'm looking for 36" double ball for an old schack headless. D'angelo strings made by GHS are listed as long scale and not for standard headless basses. I've been trying to confirm the true length but haven't been able to yet. There was some german custom bass company listed in another thread that supplies 36" double ball, but I didn't see them on their website.

Of course, you want 35" so that probably wasn't very helpful.

    Any ideas?

GHS are 36" from Ball End to Ball End.

I believe this is standard for "Steinberger" and style instruments...

You should measure the Ball end to Ball end length...

This distance does not represent the "Scale Length"

For example... A Hofner Beatle Bass is 30" short scale, but requires strings that are at least 34" from Ball End to Silk (which is technically 32" Medium Scale Strings).

Measure from bridge to nut area and see the actual distance...

Measured my bass today. Im going to need strings at least 37' long to be safe because I got about 36.75' from end of bridge to nut. Anyone know what might fit?

I've been using Pyramid strings on my 36" scale Schack headless 5 string for quite a while. They provide them in various gages. The ones I use are 040-060-080-100-122

    Check them out: http://http://www.pyramid-saiten.de/
