So, I had a hohner jack bass 5. Converted it to freless. Still plays good, and sounds decent, but I'd like to throw flatwounds up there.

Well, it's enough just to find a 5 string double ball set at all (jack basses are headless), so does anyone know who might make them? And any preferences?

I've had great luck with the double-ball flats made by Status Graphite - check out their web page!

  4. To revive a dusty old post, JustStrings carries La Bella double-ball sets in both flatwound and tapewound. Those sets are 4-string, but they also sell them in single strings, where they also sell a .128 flatwound B string to complete your 5-string. Doesn't look like they have the B in a tapewound, but my guess is that one might be able to get one from La Bella directly.
