Hi There, I have just returned from my mum's house. My dad had been a bass player and his double bass has stood, upright in a corner for a number of years now, with barely any playing. She is soon to have underfloor heating installed and we were a little concerned as to how the bass would cope with this...(At the present time it seems unlikely that the bass would be sold or given a new home as there is so much sentimentality attached). Any advice welcome, thank you, Kind regards, Stareye
I would purchase a hygrometer and place it in proximity to the bass. Any reading between 45-55% relative humidity is ideal. If you have a reading below 40% get a humidifier, above 60%, a dehumidifier. Hope this helps.
