Just yesterday I was thinking, "gee, I wish I had an electric guitar strapped around my neck too. Then I could suck at two instruments at the same time!"

Reminds me of this scene from Breaking Bad:

I had a couple of custom-built doublenecks, bass and guitar.

To me, there were more drawbacks than positives to the concept. They require two separate amplification systems (one for bass, and an amp for guitar), two cords (or a clever stereo setup) to sound good.

I thought it was novel for live playing, but rather useless for recording.

El Ten Eleven uses one to great effect along with a bunch of looping and other effects. Look them up, they have a bunch of videos on Youtube.

I have one of these and love it: http://www.rondomusic.com/product5113.html

Not only is it a real iconic attention getter onstage, it's great when I am working at home laying down tracks on my computer, I can put bass, drums and guitar on a track without having to get out of my chair :)
