What do you all think of doublenecks? Personally as a guitarist and a bassist I want to get a 6/4 doubleneck, but it's common for the bass to be on top, but I tend to sling my four string things lower than I do guitars so I'll have to have one custom made or build it myself.

Or maybe a dual four string for E/Eb, or a fretted/fretless, hardtail/tremolo, 4/6, standard/piccolo, what do you guys think would be a good combination?

P.S. I could go for one of these...

or Billy Sheehan had the right idea with one neck tuned BEAD and the other EADG:

    P.P.S. This was my 100th post :)

  3. I'm GASing for a guitar/bass doubleneck. Since I'm the only bass player and only lead guitar player in my little circle of friends, it would help when we're jamming and it's solo time.

Likewise for me too, but that little issue of slinging bass lower than guitar...:(

About the only doubleneck I could get into would be a fretted/fretless, especially a Wal like this one:

What type of basses are hardtails or tremolos?

One neck would have a tremolo such as a Kahler or a Hipshot, and the other would be a hardtail such as a stop tailpiece of a BadAss II. The only reason I could see doing this is for a Hipshot Bass Extender because dropping to D would seriously mess up the tuning on the other strings.

    I can't decide :bawl:

  9. maybe I am crazy here.. but why would billy have the right idea needing a double neck for BEAD and EADG... on a 5 string you already have both of those and a player at his level would likely have no trouble navigating around an extra string.. am I missing a point?

I didn't vote because I'm not sure where I stand on that question.
But I can see myself getting a doubleneck one of these days just for the hell of it.

I like Billy, but I think that was just a case of trying to look cool.;)

put the 8 on top, the 12 on bottom and dont have the single cut away on the bottom or slightly change it and it be a kill bass. have a wenge purple heart neck. a think blood wood or purple heart top and back. and some wood that would look realy sic ad the core. it be my dream bass.

Yeah, I could definitely find a use for one.. Whether it's two bass necks or a bass and guitar setup..
