I caught the tail end of that story on my local TV news here in Duluth. I didn't know that Doug Nelson played with Jonny Lange, but I saw him years ago with This Oneness.

What a great bass player. What a sad story.

It was a shock to hear the news. Doug has been the largest influence on my own playing. He was a great guy and a hell of a bassist.

As many knew, Doug played every Monday in Minnepolis at Bunker's with "The Combo" until Jonny asked him to join the band. Originally Doug was from St. Cloud where he met Paul (Jonny's guitarist) who was with Slip Twister.

There isn't anything "formal" planned yet, but I am quite sure there will be a big party tonight at the TC Jammers and then next Monday should be a nice tribute by The Combo.

If you're around Minneapolis, you might want to get to Bunker's pretty darn early to get a seat. I would imagine that most the Mpls Music Community will be there.

email me if you'll be there
