    he biamps and uses a guitar amp for the distorted part. also 8 and 12-string basses

    yeah his 8 and 12 strings sound like he is playing a mean harpsicord especially in that "Over my head" guitar solo

    I believe the technical term is "Fiznat". Beermonkey can certainly explain better than I. ;)

    yeah his signal chain is very complicated - there are a couple of spotlights on that in back issues of bass player mag

    Although I recently read they (both Doug and Ty) started endorising Randall amps, so his rig might be a little different now.
