DR Black Beauties on basstasters

    Yet another in the flurry of "extra life" coated strings, the DR Black Beauties i'm sure most of you have seen in BP. Recorded with a 60's Fender Jazz passive into an Avalon U5.

    Sound? They're of course darker than a brand new steel, but they're much brighter and "high-beam-like" than the DR Bootzilla. Tighter sound too, but looser feel.

    I'll be playing them constantly for the next week (vacation) so we'll see how fast they degrade. I'm starting to believe that instead of losing that initial ZING that steels do, the coated strings just don't have it in the first place. After that, they almost seem to last the same amount of time.

    Then again, i'm not a sweaty person, and I don't play much in smokey bars. YMMV.
