dr black beauties

    No! They have a pillowy attack and are a little less trebly but not much.
    They are unique and have their own personality. Deep tight lows, rich mids, and clear highs. DR Lo-Riders and High Beams are darker sounding than the color coated strings.

    Yea you can slap with them. They are still roundwounds of stainless construction. The coating tames them a tad but not much.

    I jist strung up my Reverend (Areo Type 1, PJ pickups) with the BB's and I like them. Real nice full tone for a round wound but with a retrained high end. I wouldn't choose them as a slap string specifically though. Not quite the zing I want. For that - Thomastic Super Alloy's do it for me.

    I'm liking the BB's though. For finger funk and walking they sound really nice. (this from a dedicated D'Addario Chrome & half round; Thomastic flat & SA guy ...)
