DR Fat Beams Question

Discussion in 'Strings [BG]' started by Big Ce, Apr 14, 2005.

  1. Greetings

Here is my question I play a Marcus Miller Jazz (4 string), a few months ago I changed strings and I went with the DR Hi Beams. Since that time I have also picked up another Bass.

It's a Tunebass 5 String. I know that by using the DR's on my Fender I can get that Marcus sound. I would like to know if there is anyone out there with experience with DR Fat Beams (5 String set) , especially those playing a 5 string.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Peace
    Big Ce

I have used the Fatbeam string before. I wish I could find them in nickel but that is not an easy thing. You say you have a Marcus Miller bass, so do I and I did put hi beams on it in the begining. I think hi beams are a little brittle sounding on the MM bass so I tried the nickel fatbeams, they worked great. Fatbeams also have more mids than hi beams which I also like. Hi beams are a zingy type string and if that's you thing then go for it, now fatbeams on the other hand are a tad mellower with deeper soung (more pronounced) mids.
