I picked up some of these strings on sale (5-string set). I use an Ibanez SR885 through an Ashdown MAG300 with either an Avatar 2x10 pro/Mesa 1x15 rig or an SWR Workingman's 1x15. With all that said, now to the strings.

These strings definately color your tone. They are extremely stiff (compared to regular DR strings), and actually somewhat harder to pluck than normal, and end up being pretty tight on the frets with little rattle/splash in the tone.

Using the SWR cab, I probably get the most "modern" ("piano") sounding tone I've ever had with this bass/rig. All in all, good quality strings but a little less expressive in some ways than others in the same price range.

Are you using nickel or stainless steel Lo Riders?
