1.) They're quite adament that their name is spelled Dream Theater. That's just them. I don't really care.

2.) Scenes From a Memory. Crazy concept album.

Images and Words is the classic DT album in the eyes of many.

I also like Awake very much, since it's a little harder.

  4. Six degrees of inner seperation is really good too. Well balanced

I agree with JMX, check out Images and Words and Awake :)

  6. Yeah, I/W, Awake, and Scenes are mind-blowingly good albums.
Six Degrees is full of wanking, honestly...
Falling Into Infinity has some of their best songs, as well as some of their worst. They gave up some creative control for that album, and it shows...

Ive heard their rendition of Master of Puppets and Damage inc. and it was kinda cool.

Didnt they cover the entire "Master of Puppets" album by 'Tallica?

  8. Yep, live a couple of times. It should be easy to find some boots of those shows.

  10. I got Images and Words, and, well, it didn't seem as good as my friends had hyped it up to be. But maybe it'll grow on me, I always listen to a CD 3-4 times before declaring it crap.

Listen to Metropolis Pt.1 a couple times... that song's a classic IMO. My second favorite DT song after A Change of Seasons (Get that one next!:D)

Falling Into Infinity has a couple really good ones, but a lot more crap than I'm used to from them too.

PS the Live from New York 3CD set is awesome, get it just for the live version of ACOS!:D :bassist:

  13. I own Images and Words, Awake and Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence. I also own the live DVD (Metropolis 2000). All albums are great. I personally started out with Awake and it was indeed a good start. Otherwise I recomend Images and Words as the first DT album to buy.

The guys in dream theater are amazing musicians, but i can not stand to listen to them. They should get rid of that singer, i HATE him, i repsect what hes trying to do, but man his voice is highly irritating. I wouldnt complain if they tried to be a bit heavier, theyre "mellow" rock is fruity sounding, almost as bad as rush, but they have some powerful moments.

Is it that you dont like GL, or do you just not like mellow Rush music?
