I have an applause by ovation acoustic bass and it isnt electrified. i would like to drill a hole in the traditional place and put in an input jack and a piezo, my only concern is that it might crack the body, even though the bodies are supposed to be practically indestructable im still worried

By traditional place, considering this is an acoustic instrument, do you mean the rear strap button? Because that is what I would do. Already got a pilot hole there and they make jack/strap buttons.

well ovation guitars traditionally have a normal input jack on the back of the guitar

Ah, I had forgotten. That is where it is on mine too. I would assume as long as you drill progressive sized pilot holes using sharp bits you would be fine. I still might opt for the strap button though if it were me.

Does it have a regular sound hole? Or the cluster of small holes? If it has the small holes how would you even access the inside of the guitar to install an output jack?

yes it has just one soundhole in the middle, but i have to place the piezo in the lower region of the lower side of the guitar because thats the only place clear of bracing
