Driving to an audition. How far is to far?

Discussion in 'Band Management [BG]' started by manwiththedogs, Sep 12, 2005.

  1. I`ve been looking for a new gig (not a lot happening with the current band :meh: ) and have been given a chance to try-out for a popular, and busy, variety act. Practice 1x a week, gig 4/5x a month. No bars :hyper: , good pay.

Problem is, rehearsals are held 60+ miles from my location, and I`m not sure about driving that far, (price of gas, day job scheduling, ect.) Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Ty in advance.
  2. I used to travel about that distance for a band because I REALLY liked the music and musicians. Looking back it was a complete waste of resources because the return was nothing, but at the time it was fun!

If you're doing this seriously then I think you must treat it like any job. Would you apply for a job that was 60 miles away? There's nothing wrong with it, you just have to consider your pros and cons and decide if it's worth it all.

Everyone's situation is different! Good luck to you.
