I know this question has been asked a million times before but I wanted to know if anyone has had experience with my bass in this matter.

Im playing in a new metal band and we are playing Drop B. I usually play Elixer Medium Cage Nanoweb coated strings. But Upon restringing Ive realized I need thicker strings for drop b because mine are like spaghetti.

Will I have to file my nut to fit a set of elixer five string nano's on my Fender MIM Deluxe Jazz Bass? Because If so im not sure If I want to... any thoughts?

It really depends- I've had basses that I've had to file, others I haven't. The ones I did file, though, went back to standard E tuning (with the original strings) without any problem.
