I got a SansAmp BDDI to use at home when I plug straight into the mixer. I found I could get a good growl from the A and D strings, but not E. So I raised the pickup and I got more growl.

So I go to practice. I detune to drop D for Another Brick in the Wall Pt 2. My big entrance: "We don't need no education!" ... bink. Next to nothing. :(

Once I detuned the E (now D) was too close to the pickup and I got zilch for output! One quick lowering of the pickup and things are right in the world again.

thats gotta suck having to change the pickup height every time you detune...

  4. i like drop D alot more than i ever did E. there's just better vibe, things sound heavier, you can rock on it better...just plays a lot better

Oh, I don't. I just lowered the pickup and left it there. Works in both drop D and standard.
