For all you guys who double (or dabble) on drums, what's your kit like?

Mine's a Custom Mahogany TAMA Rockstar Custom Fusion kit.
    5x14" Wooden Snare
    9x10" Rack Tom
    10x12" Rack Tom
    12x14" Mounted (floor) Tom
    18x22" Bass Drum

Cymbals are all Zildjian ZBT 'cept the Sabian B8 Splash
    14" Hi-Hats
    16" Crash
    18" Crash
    20" Ride
    10" B8 Splash

All hardware is Tama Roadpro except one cymbal stand which is a cheapo Sonor, and I'm currently using Attack Terry Bozzio sig heads. What about you guys?

I have a set of drums that I use mostly for recording my own music - I'm competent, but not great, on the drums. My setup is as follows:

    Drums: Mapex M-series-
-14" snare, Remo Fiberskyn 3 batter head, Renaissance snare side head
-10, 12, 14" toms, coated Powerstroke 4 batter heads, Fiberskyn 3 FA resonant heads
-20" bass, clear Pinstripe batter head, Fiberskyn 3 resonant head

    Cymbals: Zildjian-
    20" A Rock Ride
    14" A Custom Fast Crash
    14" K Dark Crash Thin
13" K Hi Hat top, Z Custom DynoBeat bottom

And also a Latin Percussion Rock Rider cowbell
Various sticks by Regal Tip, Vic Firth, Pro Mark
    Gibraltar wood bass beater

I don't have any pictures, but the drums have a transparent orange finish.

I don't have pics, but my current drummers rig makes me cringe when I picture loading in and out for gigs. He has a ten piece Pearl set with eleven or twelve cymbals(or thirteen or fourteen, depending how you count high hats...)

He ranges down to an eight inch splash and up to a 22" ride. The big ride is a Phil Collins Signature model by either Paiste or Sabian. All the rest are Zildjians, I think. The drumset itself started as a four piece, set up Jazz style, then he started adding toms on either side of his rack toms, including something I've mostly gotten used to, but had never seen before his set... His lowest rack tom is on the left, kind of under the edge of the left high hat. Now it's a single kick drum, a snare, and eight toms. Insanity.

Oh yeah, something else I had not played with before. I had at least seen other people use a second high hat that didn't open. But Greg is the first drummer I've played with that used one.

    Anybody else scared by this?

He must be very loud :help: :D
  9. I have a Stagg bass drum, a Sabian B8 20" ride a Stagg floor tom, and another no name floor tom, a Chad Smith sig snare, and a Pearl kick pedal.

I really need a new snare head and kick pedal, remo and DW are on the way.

There are no words. :help: :bag: :scowl: :rollno:

He is planning to sell the shells and rack on ebay to buy a Roland electronic kit so as to be quieter/more controllable. Whenever he gets the ads posted on the bay, I will post a link here so you can see it.

I have a crappy Westbury kit, standard sizes(I ditched the 13" inch tom, so it's a nice 4 piece now, everything tight and right where I want it). I put some coated Evans G2s on the batters and clear Remo Ambassadors on the resos, so they are sounding surpizingly good.
15" Zildjian A New Beat Hihats
    12" Wuhan Splash
    18" Sabian AA Medium Crash
20" Istanbul Mehmet Traditional Lite Ride (used as a crash)
    21" Sabian HHX Groove Ride

The rides and hats are amazing.

My kit is going to take the prize I am pretty sure.

Tama Kick Drum (22" Maple I think)
Sonar Double Bass Pedal taken apart so just one works
Crappy Sunlight or Sunrise or something snare
2 14" Zildjian Crashes used as High Hats on DW Stand
LP Cowboy (I've got a FEVER!)
    Gibralter Seat

That's it... I'd like to get a floor tom someday (have wanted one for about 6 years and never spent the money.) A big brassy ride would be nice too but I doubt I'll be in the market any time soon.

I managed to jam on this with my friends for almost 2 hours the other day. I have never played drums with other people before as I am 99% guitar/bass and 1% drummer. It was pretty fun.

    It's all electronic, except for the HiHat. I've modified the kit a little bit since that pic;

Last band I was in the drummer had a set like that. Two kicks, six or seven rack toms, two floor toms, roto toms, cymbals, bells, chimes, wood blocks etc like you've never seen.

I think they're called X hats. Pretty nice for a drummer that wants to move quickly from the ride to the 'hats without having to cross from one side of the set to the other.

I'm surprised that with all the other stuff my last drummer had, he didn't have these.

I want a double-remote hat like Tim Alexander has.
One pedal, controls both hats on left and right.

    Big shocker at practice yesterday!

The last two times we played, the drummer from my old band was sitting in on auxiliary percussion. This is not a surprise because he is the guitarists brother.

The drummers, guitarist, and I all attended the same small-town high school. And in general, we've all known each other forever. Also, my old drummer taught my current drummer how to play, back when he was really a saxophonist, like the guitarist. Did that make sense?

Anyway, Ron came out. Ron jammed. Ron dug Gregs' set. Ron BOUGHT Gregs' set. Greg got a Roland electroninc kit on New Year's and didn't tell me. I knew he had gotten a deal on a mixer(16 channel rack mountable Yamaha for $200--woohoo), but I didn't stop to wonder WHY he was at the gear store (probably GC Arlinton, maybe a GC Dallas, maybe Larry Morgan, I don't know) when he got it.

I used to have a Slingerland Cocktail kit
Now I have a Roland V-Tour drum kit that I am loving to death. My wife appreciates that I can play through headphones.

I kept the HiHat and Ride from my old kit, to keep an organic feel if needed. Plus those cymbals (Sabian HH Regular Hats, and Sabian HH Raw Bell Dry Ride) sounded so sweet I couldn't bring myself to let those og.

Now I just need a snare drum so our drummer can still "stir the soup"
