Just got off Musician's friend website: www.musiciansfriend.com...looking at 4 string MusicMan Stingrays and found a listing for Stingray HH (no picture or description and apparently not yet available). Can anyone confirm a new dual humbucker MusicMan Stingray model?

Yup, had the opportunity to play and fondle the dual pickup Stingrays and Sterlings and Stingray 5s two weeks ago today.

And, as one might suspect - they KILL.

Pull your head out of Talkbass for a few seconds and go visit Harmony Central and, more importantly, the manufacturer website. Also visit the Dudepit, where you'll find a great big huge photo of these things right at the top of the MusicMan forum.

This is really old news. The multi-pickup MMs (apart from the Bongo) were unveiled an NAMM, which is very much over.

    Dude.

You're giving away the secret to my advantages.

    Shhhhh.

So do you guys think they did this to give an alternative to the [often proclaimed ugly] Bongo?

    No.

I think, sometimes, that I know why it was done, but it's just a guess. An educated guess, mind you.

But not as an alternative to the Bongo - nope.

As ugly as the Bongo may be to some people, they're selling like the proverbial hotcakes. Why would you want to compete with yourself?

    But I'm just yappin' now.

Fun to watch the speculation, though.

    Argh! I'm at a crossroads. I want a Valenti and a 2HH Ray. But I can't have both... :crying:

Nice dilemma, but I'd get the Valenti. As much as I'd like a HH 'ray, a Valenti would be REALLY sweet.

Why the answer is SO obvious, I'm amazed you can't see it.

You should definitely get one. ;)

I would just like to add that I think Bongo's are attractive. ;)

But yeah man, if I had $1000+ to blow, I would be REALLY interested in one of these HH Stingrays.

I was about to pull the trigger on a regular stingray 5, but now I will definitely wait until the HH's are out.

I can't wait to try one. IMO, MM basses have always been great in the playability/construction yada, yada but the single p/u always left me wanting something more.
