Does anyone know the setup of Duff Mckagan?

  2. No, but id love to, cos i think his tone is well worth copying

  3. on the Guns 'n Roses albums, Fender Jazz Special(eg. the famous all-black one), Rotosound (Swing bass or Spacer) strings and Gallien Krueger amps.

I never understood why the Fender Jazz Special had that name - Precision style body (no scratchplate) with PJ pickups, and the neck wasn't really Jazz-style either.......
just Fender Japan getting a bit confused perhaps?

I have one of the Fender jazz bass specials. Bought it used from a small local shop in 1988. It is a very cool bass with a broad tonal spectrum. It is a bit of an odd beast as far as Fenders go. I string it with D'addario XL nickels currently although I've tried probably twenty different sets on it. It is pearl white. Anybody else have one of these?

    I had. Pearl white. :crying:

I sold it to get a custom ibanez when I thought I needed a more "professional" instrument.

But the Special J just made me fall in love each time I saw it.
I'll have to buy it back!!
