isn't there an easier way to snap the retainer clip into the locking shank groove? i already caused enough physical damage. any help or tips are appreciated
  2. I personally do not like straplocks. Sure, they stop your strap falling off, but the extra length of the whole mechanism puts more leverage on the screw, so it will pull out of the body same as a regular strap button.
My solution, and I have used this for twelve years now, is to get a couple of Fender type screws that hold the neck to the body, and a couple of large flat washers with small holes, and screw the strap on permanently. I've been on stage with guitarists who've dropped guitars, but my strap aint never gonna move!!
  3. use slip-joint pliers. it helps. :D

Yep, that is what I use, too. Never had any troubles getting the ring snapped into place.
