Duplicating the Sounds...

Discussion in 'Effects [BG]' started by hellrazor213, Feb 1, 2005.

  1. Im using a Schecter Omen-4 Diamond Series Bass, Fender Rumble 100 Amp, and a Digitech X Series Bass Driver...I need some info on what other effects would be needed to duplicate the sound of Cliff Burton, Jason Newsted, and Tom Araya...I can get it pretty close, but pretty close isn't good enough...

please list below what effects I would need to add to my existing setup to duplicate each of their trademark sounds and which brand name would sound the best...

also, if you know their own personal setup, list that as well...

    Thank You

The only effects that I know he (Newsted) used in the early 90's include:
    -Boss Flanger
    -MXR Phase 100
    -Korg G5 Bass Synth Processor
    -Electro-Harmonix Big Muff

He used a wide range of amps and cabs, which included brands such as:
    -Guitar amp for crunch

Realize too that you wont be able to get their tone excatly. Some of what you're hearing comes from the actual recording, and how it was recorded. Best thing you can do if you're going for their tone and want to reproduce it, is go for live tone. Even then though, it's hard...
