Either the DVI input on my LCD monitor (standard Dell 17" flatpanel) or the DVI output on my video card went bad, or the cable is flaky. Whatever the case, I had to switch over to a VGA cable, and it looks terrible--fuzzy, nasty, ugly. I'm so used to the sharpness of DVI that my eyes are starting to hurt. Has this ever happened to anyone else? For a week or so now strange things would occasionally happen to my display: a square of single white pixels would form behind my mouse pointer, and bands of pixel-wide white lines would appear across the entirety of the display. I updated my video drivers and it didn't fix the problem, so it's got to be a hardware issue.
