DVI signal chain (video card->cable->LCD) flaky

Discussion in 'Off Topic [BG]' started by Peter McFerrin, May 3, 2006.

  1. Either the DVI input on my LCD monitor (standard Dell 17" flatpanel) or the DVI output on my video card went bad, or the cable is flaky. Whatever the case, I had to switch over to a VGA cable, and it looks terrible--fuzzy, nasty, ugly. I'm so used to the sharpness of DVI that my eyes are starting to hurt.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? For a week or so now strange things would occasionally happen to my display: a square of single white pixels would form behind my mouse pointer, and bands of pixel-wide white lines would appear across the entirety of the display. I updated my video drivers and it didn't fix the problem, so it's got to be a hardware issue.

Just get a creepy little blonde girl to stand in front of the monitor. If she says "Petey, they're heEEeeeerrrre," then you have two options:

    1. Get the hell outta there before that house implodes and disappears.

    2. Call in the midget lady with the funny voice to clean it.

Also - avoid clowns and trees.
