Because Photobucket has chosen to in effect "take down" everyone's photos (unless you pay them), we have extended post edit time in the Luthier's Corner to UNLIMITED.  If you used photobucket and happen to still have your images of builds, you can go back and fix as many of your posts as far back as you wish.

    Hello all,

Does anybody have the DXF or DWG file of a Fender Jazz Bass?
I want to do a 36" 5 string Jazz bass, and it would be nice to have the body contour curves.

Just go to the Fender site and snag a pic of one. Pull it up in AutoCAD and scale it up using the distance between the nut and the 12th fret as a reference, making that distance 17 inches. Trace the outline of the body and bang, you've got a full scale dwg of a jazz bass body. It'll take you 10 minutes.

I guess that's the way to go Bud, thanks for the reply.

  4. I can send you a file of my own J body in one of these formats. The only real difference is that I modified the forward end of the neck pocket to differentiate it from the stock models and Warmoth aftermarkets. I used this when I designed and routed my first bass on the big router.

Email me with your address and I can pop it back to you.
