On the F bass website I saw a bass with a Purple Fretboard, but it was BRIGHT purple.

I'm not sure if I like it.... kinda has that Jump Suit look a la Sergio Taqhini (sp?). :eyebrow:

I enjoy the contrast effect personaly. In addition, and maybe this is a long shot, but I'd imagine the wood would become saturated and dull sounding, maybe even more on an "after market" board.

If ya do it though. I'd like to see it!

Purpleheart is a rather lustrous purple colour. Not of that shade though. Check out Alembic's custom of the month for some awesome purple stuff.
  6. Damn that first/blue one is crazy looking!

Not sure if it was really "dyed", but here's my Conklin hollow 7 which has a B.E. Maple board

    And a before shot..

Diamondwood, phenowood, rockwood (PAKKAWOOD) comes in different colors.

  12. Moon is another company that dyes fingerboards, with cool results. I want one.
Sorry for the crappy picture, but it was the only one I could find on the fly. Coming to think of it, I think the Celinder Graham Tribute has a white fingerboard as well. And a nicer body shape than the Moon. Maybe I'd like one of those instead... :D

    How does that work?
  15. Well if it's a finished wood such as maple, I don't see the harm in coloring it.
  16. Thank you so0o far for all your posts :)....

Still cant decided weather to leave my Shuker an all Natural Wood look such as this

or going for something really radical and different...

My GB at the moment is a Parismic Sparkle Finish that dances in the light and changed all the colours of the rainbow...

The picture below is not of me (being only 20) or my bass but it shows how it looks when in action

Larry @ Gallery Hardwoods does dyed and stabilized woods (together). I looked at some samples when I was there. They looked awesome! No, I'm not a shill for Larry, just a very satisfied customer.
