Dynamically responsive dirt pedal

    Looking for a pedal that will clean up (reasonably) with the volume rolled off/down. A darker overdrive to Cranked Muff in a darker tone setting..is there anything that will get me close? Prefer reasonable mids, good bottom.

    Suggestions to check out?

    You will get a lot of suggestions....Fairfield Barbershop v2 and Joyo American are good ones to check out, lots of reviews on them here.

    I'd check out some Tubescreamer derivatives such as the Xotic BB Preamp, Cusack Screamer (the OD, they do a fuzz with the same name), EBS Multidrive, and HBE Hematoma. I use the BB and it's very touch responsive, easy to go from clean to filthy just by digging in a little harder, or by adjusting the volume control.
