E.R. Schmidt German Made Bass

Discussion in 'DB Classifieds Archive' started by billengelman, Jan 9, 2006.

  1. For sale is this E. R. Schmidt German made plywood upright bass in excellent playing condition. The best guess is that this bass was made in the seventies. The label inside reads “E.R. Schmidt, Geigenbaumeister, Mittenwald, Bayern, Made in Germany”. The wood has a beautiful vintage tint and wonderful full even tone. It has a recent setup by Henry Boehm, a well respected bass luthier from The Doublebass Workshop in Madison, WI. He dressed the fingerboard and nut, added a new tailgut cable, shaved the neck and other critical adjustments. He also installed a new set of Spirocores. The bass plays extremely well. IMHO, much better than new ones in this price range. See the pics and email me for more pics and info. I’m asking $1900 or best offer.
