I just got a new bass, now when I play any note the E string hits the last fret, any idea to why this happens? never happened before.

    it's a 09 Highway One Jazz bass.
  2. It needs a set up. Take it to a reliable and trusted professional.
  3. This.. Or learn how to do it yourself.

Hint: U need to raise the bridge

Do you mean the E string "clacks" against the fret once per attack, or do you mean that the string buzzes against the last fret?

If it's the former, the action is probably just low and you can either adjust your playing technique to prevent the string from hitting the end of the fretboard, or raise the action a little bit at the bridge.

If it's the latter, the action should probably come up regardless.

Unless you know about intonation, truss rods, etc. you probably shouldn't just raise the action on your own though. Like the previous posters suggest, the bass would benefit from a setup. If you take it to someone make sure to mention the issue you're having, they should be able to fix it and/or tell you if something is wrong with the bass.
