E string and G string

Discussion in 'Strings [BG]' started by scottos150, Jul 10, 2002.

  1. My E string and G string on my fender J bass are to close to the fret board that when I play they smack up against it. How do I go about raising these strings? thanks.

Scott, you need to take a small alan key(hopefuly the one that came with your bass) and use it to adjust the bridge saddles(the part that the string sits on after it comes through the bridge. If this does not make any sense to you, you should be able to take it to a local shop and have them show you what to do. It is easy and you can do it yourself.
