EA iamp350 discontinued!

Discussion in 'Amps, Mics & Pickups [DB]' started by heymrbassman, Jun 12, 2003.

  1. Can this be true?

If the combo is so good why not keep making it?

On Bob's site it says that the new whizzey combo is taking over but that has a 12" driver

EA's rationale is that the 350 and new 200 are too similar to continue producing both.

They both have the identical front end, the iAMP 200 adds the on-board tuner.

    Other differences/similarities:

    iAMP200 -
12" with wizzer cone for highs
    200 watts into combo cabinet
(no provision to drive add'l unpowered cabs)
    37 lbs.
    iAMP350 -
    10" with coaxial horn
    175 watts into combo cabinet
(another 8 ohm speaker req'd to get 350w)
    59 lbs.

While I liked the iAMP 350 combo, unless you carried a second cabinet, the iAMP 200 boasts more power and a larger speaker, as well as the on-board tuner -- not to mention the added kindness to my aching back.

I had a Wizzy cabinet here a couple months ago, and played through it quite a while. The lack of horn is no sacrifice, the highs are very present, and in fact, an acoustic guitar player who doubles on bass bought it with a Clarus 1R, for dual duty.
