    Hi everyone,
I ordered an ear Candy Bass Bomb 2x12 16+ weeks ago....
The problem is that Tim told me it would be delivered in 8-10 weeks...(less if I would take a pre-fab cab and let him customize it....which I did)
I would get a new excuse ever so often until he finally quit responding this week....
I paid up front and am told they do not offer refunds....
I don't understand this kind of treatment because everyone on here seemed to be so high on Tim?
It appears I will have to take the legal route which will be a ling hard road I am sure...
I have never been treated so badly by any company....
    Any insights?

Call your credit card company and tell them. Charge it back.

Guess I was still kinda holding on to the idea that I might actually get the cabinet.
You hate to give up after being strung along this long...
    :(
    Thanks for the help guys.
guess I just have to know when I'm beat...

  6. That is odd. I talked to him a few months back about ordering a cab. He seemed like real nice guy. I was about to order one then I bought one here used. Then I sold it because it wasn't my thing. Good luck.

This should be grouped with the Dr. Bass threads. With internet sites such as TalkBass, don't these cab builders know there just killing their reputation and business.

See if you can actually call him on the phone.

Also keep in mind that honey attracts more flies than vinegar so if you send him a polite email once every 3 days or so, asking for an update, that will more likely get a response. If you're all brash and demanding it wont get you anywhere. Although, if he has your money he *should* respond no matter what.

  13. I'm sorry to hear about your issues. :(

FYI, I just received a cab from Low Down Sound, and that was a very good experience. Don had originally quoted a wait time of 4 weeks, but it ended up taking closer to 6 weeks. That's only because there was a bit of discussion regarding the crossover in the specific style of cab I ordered. Don answered all my questions and called me to iron out any details he needed. Actually, I had originally ordered a 210 and changed it to the 15/6.5 I now have, and he had no problem with that.

Send EarCandy a link to this thread so he can read all the 'advertising' he's getting. We have got to keep the pressure on these builders that act like this.

    Thanks guys,
I was as nice as humanly possible until this last week...
I have heard every excuse in the book...
    Phones were down,didn't get your emails,paved the road so I couldn't work,medical problems,etc.....
I played ball as long as I could...
I totally understand that delays can happen but c'mon...

I've waited longer than promised on half of my custom bass gear purchases. Much longer than 6 weeks. I still have a great relationship with some of the builders. I think it's a bit too early to say, without a doubt, that they are being shady, but, by all means, if you think that you are getting the run around, then do what you have to do.

  17. 16 weeks, not six weeks.

Yeah Elo... I bet he's not answering any emails right now right? Figures...

  19. You are well within your rights to be pissed off.

As of right now, he's a criminal that stole your money. Simple. Until he produces the item he promised (that you've paid for in advance), he's a thief.

+1 IME custom builds usually take much longer than the quoted time. I've dealt with Low Down Sound as well for a custom cab, and was quoted something like 6 weeks and it turned into more like 10-12 and we ended up having shipping issues too (no fault of theirs). But the key with any custom build seems to be patience, patience, patience. Obviously if they're dodging you, its a bad sign, but if they fall behind on orders chances are they're getting hit from every angle by a whole bunch of customers at once... some dudes don't handle that so well and kinda shut down til they can clear through some of the work. Hopefully that's the case and nothing actually shady is going on! Good luck.

FWIW I do remember an awful lot of threads on this company contesting some of the ridiculous marketing claims made in the descriptions of the cabs... it was enough to steer me away from them and towards a different custom builder.
