    Hello Guys,

i think i read somewhere that the early jazz bass bodies
    (1961-1962) were 1 5/8`thick instead of 1 3/4''

    Is that true?

I'd like to put together a jazz bass that is the closest to the original ones (1961-62)

I would also need to know what was the average neck
thickness at the first fret. Does anyone know the answer please?

    Thanks for your Help

    Happy New Year

Can't help with an early 60's, but a 1965 Jazz measures .78" at the 1st fret and .967" at the 12th fret.

I read that early Fender bodies could be anywhere between 1.625 and 1.75, but usually averaging just under 1.75"

My Fender CS LTD '58 body measured 1.625.
