I'm keeping this up for sale for trade through this weekend, Oct 6. After that, I will hold on to it for sale in better times. Might even take another shot at playing this great fiver. Reopened for trades.

This is a near-mint Tobias Classic 5 with an stunning combination of woods. Bubinga top with wenge body over an alder body. Neck is flame maple with purple heart. Fretboard is wenge. Serial places it from 1997. Black hardware, asymmetrical neck, 24 frets. Includes original Tobias case, in very good condition.

Weight is 9.6 on my bathroom scale. Nut is 1.75", string spacing is 17.5-18mm (best estimate)

I purchased it locally 8 months ago from the original owner, determined to give a fiver another try, but have decided to stick with fours.

Has one tiny ding along the top rear edge, that doesn't show up in pic, and a few light scratches on the back. Otherwise this is excellent all around. Frets have virtually no wear (see pic). Specs say it has Bartolini curve-top neck and bridge pickups and a bartolini preamp. Controls are master volume with push/pull slap tone, pan pot, bass, midrange, treble and mid-cut boost switch.
    Currently wearing DR tapered strings.

$2500, plus actual shipping, Trade value $2700 CONUS only. Paypal OK.
PM me with any questions. I respond promptly .

Open to trade offers but 4 string only, and preferably passive precision or Jazz style. WIll consider vintage Fenders, or Lull, Lakland, MBasses, or similar.

I am pretty sure the fretboard is wenge. Beautiful bass. Wish I had the cash.

After looking closely and comparing, I think vlad335 may be right about wenge fretboard. i've adjusted the description.

I've got one of these, I think I got it when I was 19. The owner before me put EMG's with an EMG preamp that has a boost switch and that bass slays the dragon. I'll never sell it. Someone should unlock the spirit in this bass and go forth and destroy!

I bought one to these brand new in the early 90s. Mine looked just like this. It was Walnut/Wenge/Alder. It's a classic look/sound. GLWTS!

Going to ask if still available and how much “room” is available on the truss rod/rods?

Got burned on a used sale once so I always ask. Sorry lol.

Yes, still available. Truss rods (2) work perfectly. Turn smoothly with ample room in both directions.
Adjustment nuts in very good condition.
