I have a Transmisser and I want to use and expression pedal to control the sweep of the filter. I kneel down and turn the knob live, and I feel it would be easier to use an expression pedal. All I can find is that they recommend Moog.

I came into a Zoom FP-02M for cheap, but I can't find any information on it. Anyone use a Zoom pedal with their EQD stuff? What are you using that is working?

  2. Expression pedals have different pot values. I can't remember what the values of the specific pedals are but I think the Moogs are pretty high and Boss and Zoom lower? Anyway, I have used a Boss expression(same pot value as the Zoom I think)pedal with stuff that recommended Moog and it worked but it did not sweep through the entire range of the parameter I was trying to control. Try it and see.

There is a list of expression pedals here List of expression pedals

The Moogs use a 50K ohm electrical resistance potentiometer with a TRS (Tip, Ring, Sleeve) configuration. Because it is a TRS configuration I don't see that it would make much of a difference what value was used because the voltage coming back on the tip is proportional to the potentometers wiper position, rather than the resistance of the pot, and so half way for a 10K pot will produce the same voltage as halfway for a 100k pot. So, 10K or higher should be ok for the Earthquaker Transmisser.

I guess the only way to know for sure would be to test it or to ask EarthQuaker. The link above does list some other 50k ohm pedals.

The Zoom FP-01 uses a 100k pot, but it is a RTS configuration, which means if will not work properly or at perhaps at all. If they are recommending Moog then it must be a TRS configuration. Many expression pedals have a switch that allow switching between RTS and TRS, or you could use a TRS to RTS adapter or cable (switch the ring and tip positions on one end of the cable)
