Who else plays acoustic guitar? I haven't for years, but my keyboardist friend invited me to do a casual covers gig for tips and beer in 2 weeks, playing acoustic guitar half the time and bass the other half. What easy/strummy songs would you play for an evening/happy hour casual cover gig? Examples that I'm already dusting off are Bad Moon Rising and Used To Love Her. Any others? Links to good song lyric/chord charts? Thanks!
Check out songsterr.com, which is my go-to for most tabs. It plays midi files of the song while showing the tabs/chords on the screen. Ultimate-guitar.com is another easy go-to, and they have more chord charts than songsterr does. Song wise look at "We're Going To Be Friends" by The White Stripes (simple finger picking around easy chords like G and A), "Good Riddance" by Green Day (an acoustic act must have, IMO), "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz (same sort of thing as "Good Riddance). There's a lot of simple, catchy acoustic pop/rock songs that people like...as long as you don't play "Wonderwall."
