EASY Alternative Tune Suggestion

Discussion in 'Band Management [BG]' started by agreatheight, Oct 5, 2008.

  1. My very new band just found out last minute that we are playing a slightly longer set that anticipated for a charity gig, so we need to add a new song. Normally, no big, BUT the gig has kids attending so we need to watch our content, and apparently we work pretty "blue," lol. This cuts down on a lot of songs we have worked up and we are short on time to learn a new one. Any ideas for an EASY add to our set, something we can put together really quick?

Lit - My Own Worst Enemy
Darkness - I Believe In A Thing Called Love
Jimmy Eat World - The Middle
The Ramones - I Wanna Be Sedated
    Tommy TwoTone - Jenny Jenny
Pat Benetar - Hit Me With Your Best Shot
Billy Idol - Dancing With Myself
    Rock Kills Kid - Paralyzed
NIN - The Hand That Feeds
    Collective Soul - Gel
    U2 - Vertigo

Um, turn on Top 40 radio and learn the first song that comes on it.

  3. Thanks. :rollno:

Anyone with something a little more helpful?

I thought my suggestion was insightful and appropriate based on your current set list, sorry.

  5. Seemed a little condescending to me, as not all top 40 is easy to play. But if you didn't mean it that way, cool.

Maybe a second Collective Soul number such as December would be quick and easy? Not to mention it's a good tune.
    Good Luck with your gig.

    Cheers,

Yeah, this is a good choice. A little different and not very well known, but not so obscure that a good majority of people won't recognize it. Plus, it's super easy and sounds good when you turn it into a regular by-the-numbers style rock tune.

Based on the pretty eclectic set list

    Janey Jones by The Clash

Should take about as long to learn as to play

Very catchy song though...and can be extended or shortened at will...might be a bit obscure for a young audience tho
