does anybody have any tabs for some bass lines that sound complex but that are fairy simple?
N.I.B the original Black Sabbath version, Mr. Claypools version can be quite tricky. Of course definitions of "easy" may vary, what I consider easy might be difficult for you and vice-versa.
Cliff Burton's lines sound great and are fairly easy.
The Awakening is the first thing that I can think of that sounds impressive to non-bassists yet most of it is pretty easy.
"Cosmic Girl" by Jamiroquai.
the chicken - jaco pastorius
Most Primus stuff is very simple, it just doesn't sound like it.
+1 to that.
Everytime I go into a store around here, one of the employees (guitarist) is always amazed by slapping, especially the more difficult Primus songs. Or two handed tapping instead of eighties shred style tapping.
Incubus - Battlestar scratchlatica (second word probably spelt wrong)
Primus - my name is mud
RHCP - aeroplane
iron butterfly - in the garden of eden
You think that sound hard?
are u making fun of me?
[Simpson voice] "In the garden of eden, baby! Don't you know that I loooovvvee you!" [/Simpson voice]
Just pointing out the fact that there is nothing complex about that song. Also, I am making fun of you.
Now, now, let's play nice.
The White Stripes
Any Dream Theater song. That John Myung guy needs to practice.
i think robert deleo of STP has lots of tasteful lines that sound complicated but are fairly simple to play. i'm on an STP kick.
aeroplane is NOT a simple song to play, unless you're not playing it correctly.
somebody else here once suggested learning around the world for a beginner's song. is this ego stuff, or mild insanity???
Haha, +1 to the Aeroplane thing. When I first started taking lessons after a few months of playing, it sounded cool so I tried to learn it. TRIED being the operative word!
"I'll Take You There" by The Staple Singers. Nice groove. Nailing the timing is the most difficult part of learning this one.
