Hey, I was wondering if you can get a pretty decent jazz tone out of an EB Stingray? Im looking for a bass with that punch, but I also want a jazz tone on the bass as well. If the EB can't get a good jazz tone, I was probably going to go with a Lakland Skyline 44-02. which one do you think would be better for me? Iplay jazz, funk, and alt rock mainly. I play through an Ampeg head with a 4x10 cab.

I've played both Lakland and Ernie Ball basses and my personal preference is the Lakland. It's more versatile IMO, but doesn't have quite the same agressiveness to the sound as the Stingray. If you want a MusicMan that will more closely approximate a jazz tone, then you need to check out a Sterling. But if it was me I'd go with the Lakland, I think they're more aesthetically pleasing, and I like the tone more. Just my .02
